Chess makes people smarter. This is a fact and has been proven.

One of the highest IQs in the world is possessed by former world champion Garry Kasparov, who is regarded by many as the best chess player ever. He has a whopping IQ of 190.

  • School grades in general (and especially mathematics) improve. Besides it being proven, I can also personally vouch for this. Many chess players which I know are top academic achievers and go on to become doctors, actuaries, etc. Chances are that at least some of these people have been positively affected by chess.
