666 Points - Leading my Elite division of the Chess Player's League

Having reaching an impromptu milestone, I stopped my course. Just in case the Devil's Bishop was waiting for me around the corner... What I found instead was what Le Cavalier du Diable was planning for me on Road 666. The Knight (Chevalier/Cavalier in french chess) was on the prowl. This was the subject that would become the center PIECE of this blog! (Which happened to be created on December 21, Winter Solstice, the shortest and thus darkest day of the year.)

So having reached 666 points, the subject just crossed my mind like a corrupt Bishop. There was this idea of the Horse-Beings of mythologies that parallel one another in the Abrahamic religion's manuscripts.

I pieced together a little blog, with songs of Thrash Metal and Death Metal, just really heavy occult stuff that would have fit right into an Halloween blog...  and give a listen to those Death ' N ' Roll albums that stand the test of time ! Better not listen if you're not ready for Cannibal Corpse level of music at some points.

Whereas we can go to the dogmatic texts and apply the same things to the ecclesiastical team. The "light" side of the protagonists, Anamelech, the "GOOD" army. The white pieces. Pardon the dichotomy of the parties involved. These always were blatant generalizations.

Don't you think there could be some reasons behind the clergical presence of that symbology? It's reign over the hermetical game that is Chess? The eminent domain established across the axis of the boards that is confered to Bishops and those crosses adorning the King's crown, they can be traced to religions. But is it officially the "monarchy ties" that led to the origins of knights/cavaliers on the chess board? Is it because the legend* says that the Bishops are worth 3.5 and the Knights a little less, so 3.33? Literally 1/2 of 6.66 ?

*Legend is that 1) since Bobby Fisher questionned the equality between Knights and Bishop in his days, and with 2) modern chess engines determining the impact of Bishop control in end game, 3) Gary Kasparov added his weight saying he thought Bishops were worth a little more. Like 3.5.  Or 3.666?

I am but joking, there is no evil meanings behind all this, only maths.

Being atheist it means that these are subjects of study are in my mind discovery. This blog won't be to discuss the beliefs of others. It will be historical and from class books, nothing to be debated on here about the beliefs of others. Only the fine Science of CHESS, under the lense of historical curiosity. Never forgetting to be amazed at the universe and delve into projects of  anthropological demystification of theological myths.

Discovering the origins of Chess. Comparing it to Shogi, Go, Chaturaji, it is evident that CHESS also has cultural influences that shaped its pieces like those other boardganes. There will be more to be said, once I delve into the lore a little deeper. Stay tuned!
