I've been somewhat experienced with OTB, but I haven't played in a bit, and I had old chess.com accounts before this one. Which means I know some things

Let's get this right out of the way:

1. Take your time (and play Rapid time controls)

I see way too many people go "OOH BLITZ CHESS" Chess is not about speed (me saying this is kinda ironic)

I suggest 10|0 or 15|10 for beginners

2. Think about your moves with the CCA rule

Checks

Captures

Attacks

I see too many people taking 5 seconds on their moves

Here's a custom position:

Checks: We have one, but it blunders our bishop.

Captures: We also have one, and it also blunders our bishop

Attacks: We have a passed pawn that could be ready to promote, and this is an attack

What I don't see in this format is development

If it's the 27th move and you haven't moved a certain rook, maybe you should move it and bring it into the game

3. Puzzles.

This one is argued over the chess community.

"OH but that's a super rare position!" -Little Timmy

This increases your muscle memories, and can help in memorizing the CCA(and sometimes D) rule from earlier

I bet nobody will read this, but I don't care. It'll beginners if they do read it.
