Welcome back to another blog post!

So as you know, there are 4 main categories in the game of chess:

Quick,

Blitz,

Bullet

and Classical.

There are different openings that suite for each category.

Today I am going to be sharing my favorite openings for each time control!

1. Blitz

Blitz is probably the most popular category in the world. A lot of people play it for fun, while others learn a lot from it! During blitz I often like to play gambits and my personal favorite, is the Scotch Gambit!

Here is an example of the Scotch Gambit:

Probably the most interesting line in the Scotch Gambit, is the particular variation, where black tries to defend the pawn, rather than using it as a compensation:

In this line, followed by c3, white will have an amazing sacrifice with the bishop! Click here for more info.

2:Bullet

Bullet is probably a time control that people play for fun.

You find interesting openings and play them in your games!

My favorite opening in bullet is the Nimzowitch Larsen. This is the main line:

I would recommend the Nimzo Larsen because it gives you lots of time to premove, and you don't have to spend to much time thinking. This will come in handy when you play 1 min, or maybe even 30 sec!

3: Quick (15 min - 30 min)

Quick is a category in chess, where you have to think little by little. You don't need a very solid structure, so you can play mostly what you like.

An opening I would recommend is the London:

The London may also lead to various setups such as this:

Either way, the London is a great opening to play, with a very solid and attacking setup!

4: Classical (30 or higher)

The classical category is a category with the highest time control. From G-60, to G-45, you get to think! Normally in a classical game, you want a solid setup to help you with your position. And that is when the Queens Gambit comes in hand!:

Whether your opponent plays the KID, or the Queens Gambit declined, you will often lead to a very solid setup. This solid setup comes in handy during the classical games!

Conclusion:

I hope you enjoyed this blog post! Please leave a comment on your feelings!

See you next time!
