Knight Move Visualization
My favorite viz:
Numbers indicate number of moves to reach the square.
The white squares are '3' but hidden to make it more readable.
You can use it to visualize the knight's potential target squares... OR figure out where best to approach a knight or move out of its influence.
Another variant, but too big and too noisy:
The following diagrams show how you can think about the knight's range as exactly the same as the BLIND SPOTS the queen has within three squares of any direction. Which, of course, is also in the blind spot of the bishop, rook, and king. In fact, I find it easiest to visualize the king's 3x3 square and then the knight's moves around that.
I know I learned the knight moves as "an L shape" when I was a kid, which isn't as helpful IMO.
There is also the various forking visualizations, I may post something on that later
How do YOU visualize the influence and movement of the knights?
