TikTok is creeping up on Google's market share as a SEARCH tool, which is something people may never have expected when it first launched back in 2016. People on the platform are looking up cooking recipes, crafting instructionals, and even chess openings!

It's also overtaken Youtube in average watch time in the US as of September 2021, according to a report from app analytics firm App Annie.

Chess.com's own TikTok account is now at over 450,000 followers, actively posting content on the platform since 2020. Sam Copeland, Chess.com's VP of Content and International, says the key to the account's success has been "creating content that is appealing to the broadest possible chess audience, even to non-chess players... doesn't presume that [viewers] are already part of the chess community."

He also believes that for creators using TikTok, "it's possible to go viral far more easily than on other platforms, [and TikTok] provides exposure to new potential fans far better than any other platform."

It sounds like all content creators (including live streamers already on Twitch and Youtube) really shouldn't pass up the growth that TikTok could provide, and should integrate the platform into their personal growth strategies, striking while the iron is hot. We've seen video platforms come and go, but TikTok is seeing a level of success not achieved in the past by similar media apps like Vine and Snapchat.

Tools like Crossclip make it easier than ever for Twitch streamers to convert their clips into TikTok videos (as well as Instagram Reels, Youtube Shorts, and Facebook videos). It's main feature allows editors to relocate the webcam and gameplay areas within their clips to create a vertical presentation of the same footage, which is the preferred scaling for Tiktok. Here's my HOW-TO video on exactly how to convert your clips using Crossclip.
