Road to the Grandmaster title - Game 18 - Victory against the Exchange Slav
Yesterday I played with an experienced International Master from the Philippines, Virgilio Vuelban
He started with 1.d4 This was the first surprise, because in the other games he started with e4.
I played the Slav defense and he exchanged the pawns. I thought he may play for the draw. I was happy about that, because in that structure I won many games before. When somebody plays for a draw against me I I win most of the time.
We exchanged the light square bishops, which made his c4 square weakened. I put there a knight and he put on c5, which I captured with my bishop.
LAter He started a wrong plan with Bh2,f4 and g4. He wanted to attack on the kingside, but my queneside attack was much faster and I got a strong passed pawn:
