Blunders Or Tactics
Welcome to my 8th analysis
Sorry for my week break, I will try and analyze 2 games for every day I missed out. 1 professional game as per the thumbnail and title. And 1 random game from the people who comment. 2 games will be analyzed tomorrow. I will try to keep it short and hope you enjoy. White is Yuriy Kuzubov and Alireza Firouzja is Black.
Opening
White takes full possession of the centre and Alireza develops his pieces behind the scenes. Attacks the pawn to make the queen move and fianchettoes the bishop. White does the same and Alireza forces a pawn trade either with the c or e pawn. The e pawn trades. And this makes black up 1 pawn. White castles defending the king and developing his rook. Black develops another knight and white attacks the undefended knight. Alireza develops his bishop and as part of the title leaving this knight undefended? A blunder or a tactic. This is a tactic because of a fork which follows through.
Middle Game
White moves the queen to escape the fork and possibly capture the knight. Black moves the knight which is a mistake because white with perfect play can get a good position upon black. And after the top stockfish moves, white moves the queen to recapture and this puts the eval back to equal as the position cannot continue. This leads to a fork of the queen and rook. Which is fine due to some counter-play white can do. White counter attacks with Qxg7 which attacks the rook while tacking a pawn. Black stops this and trades bishops. Then wins up a rook, however with correct counterattacks this can be a draw. They trade bishops. White attacks the knight and takes the pawn on d7, however this is was not the best move because it frees up the knight for black to take the lead. White gains some more counter attack and this move white blunders. Instead of playing a check which could lead to a draw. White escapes the trade with no check leaving the rook hanging however there is a fork possible.
White is forced to sac the rook being down 1 more rook and escapes another trade. At this point resigning would have probably been best. White keeps on checking looking for draws. This continues and eventually black is in a perfect position and white resigns.
