Oldest stuff at chess.com
Sometimes I wonder how much I know about the things I like. One of those things is chess.com - so I decided to look into things like, when it was launched (birthday?!
), how about the first article, when was it published? etc. So, I looked into the oldest stuff - well, more like the earliest stuff at chess.com. Here is a sample of what I found. You can look into other stuff that was I not able to find, or whatever interests you.
The oldest Article at Chess.com was posted by webmaster - Welcome to the Chess.com Beta! I think it's a must-read for all new members - it gives a nice intro on what the site is all about, and what you can do to enjoy your lifetime stay! It was posted on 05/08/2007 at 12:07am!

on 3rd June, 2007, Billwall posted a General Chess Discussion topic - The Grob - (have you tried playing the Grob against anyone? Do you know what it is? I will not tell you. Click the link and see what the first move is!
On 5th May, 2007, Crysi posted an Openings topic - The importance of Openings? There was small discussion, but Jay has nice instructions on why it is important to know Openings well. Crysi also has a link to an article on Openings that he had written.
On 13th May, 2007, in the Game Analysis Section, Erik posted one of his games - a closed Sicilian that Billwall dissected. Erik won in 25 moves. A nice game. Don't misplay the closed Sicilian against Erik!
On 13th May, 2007, Erik posted "Come On Out" puzzle in the Daily Chess Puzzles section. Do you solve the (daily) puzzles?
Explore other sections of the forums to see what's out there, and what's oldest, latest, and exactly in between!
One of my favorite places to go to is the video section - which you can find in the Directories menu. I was not able to (sort and) find the oldest video.
The Oldest piece in the News section was posted on 15th May, 2007 by Chessbot. It was about 2006 Computer Chess Championship - It was between Rybka and Deep Shredder.
The oldest blog post was made on 8th May, 2007 by webmaster... A few days until launch... Have you read the post? Do you know what was on the webmaster's mind before launch? When you read that post and a few others that came later on... you will see that a lot of work has gone, and still goes, into making this site as homely as it is. (Thanks, Erik and your team!)
