Beauty Prizes!
I have always valued beauty in chess quite highly. I enjoy playing through the most brilliant or beautiful games of history, and when I ran a small chess club, I liked to include beauty or brilliancy prizes. Finally, reminded of this by some scintillating play by dojo'ers this week, I have decided to start awarding Beauty Prizes at all Dojo events that I have a chance to view/comment. If you play in one of our events, and you think you played a special game, please send it to me to make sure I saw it and consider it.
Of course, since all our events are free, and put on by us as a labor of love, we have no $$ to shower the winners with. Instead, the award is purely itself: a recognition of fantastic play, something to aspire to and rejoice in when we achieve it.
Here are the first Dojo Beauty Prizes, which reminded me to restore this practice:
Friday 10/9 Classical (90+30) Simul:
Saturday 10/10 Dojo 1600+ Rapid
I hope these prizes will provide some extra joy and inspiration. I look forward to sharing many more beautiful games with all of you.
