ANZAC Weekend Hexa Round Robin 2025

Hey all this is @harichess01,

This Blog is about an OTB tournament I am currently playing in the chess Centre of South Australia.

This is a classical tournament consisting of 5 rounds with a time control of:

Fischer Bonus – 60 minutes + 30 seconds per move
Default time is 30 minutes from start of play 

This is also a round robin tournament, meaning that I will be playing against 5 other players for the five rounds I play and all of us are in the same group.

So compared to other classical tournaments this has a shorter time control.
This is a FIDE rated event so the ratings you may see in the game are Fide ratings only

Game 1:

At first I thought this is going to be a normal game and I can have a comfortable win. But what shocked me is that my opponent was born in 1969 and he played VERY GOOD. I had a chance to draw the game but my time was running low and I lost the game at the endgame.

Game 2:

In this game I faced a familiar opponent whom I had already played in a rapid game on December 25th 2024. I did win that game with ease as my opponent was under time pressure, but this game was way harder than I thought. I Blundered a pawn in the opening stages of the game and things got a bit rough for me in the middlegame, however I managed to hold the position and get into an equal endgame.
