Hello, chess.com! I’m this blog’s host, HitThePin, and welcome back once again for GOTW.

Ratings. At times, when we play chess, they seem like everything. Some people play chess solely with the role of increasing their rating. When we see a rating higher than ours, we immediately give them mental respect. I have a bit more to say about the topic here.

Well, today I went up against that guy who I give mental respect (don’t tell him I said that, he’ll never let me hear the end of it) Enter @rychessmaster1 . As I type these words, he stands at the 98.7% percentile for all chess.com blitz players. If anyone has a high rating that I know, it’s this guy.

And so I played him, 5|0 unrated. I can’t say that I’m proud of every move that I made, but I’m happy enough with the outcome.

All in all, I played well, although I let a win go in the end. You live and you learn.
