GOTW: Season 2!

HELLO, EVERYBODY! My name is hitthepin, and welcome back to game of the week!

Yeah. Game of the week. Remember this thing? The old blog series where I'd analyze all sorts of terrible games that I played, and inserted sarcastic commentary in between the moves.

Well, it's back! And now that I'm a slightly better player, hopefully there will be less cringe than there was back in season 1.

Without further ado, let's jump into it.

There's all sorts of preconceptions that a person might enter a chess game with. For my, one of those conceptions is that I'm a positional player. I play Pircs and King's Indians. Slowly grind out on advantage, grab a pawn, and win the endgame.

If there's one thing that I can say that I'm not especially talented at, it's attacking. Some players dream of conducting a brilliant attack, dragging the enemy king down with a series of brilliant sacrifices and checkmating him in the middle of the board.

Yeah. That's not me.

But if you stay in your comfort zone all the time, how will you ever improve? In this game, I venture forth and attempt to lop off the enemy king's head by going full whammy at his defenses until he cracks or I do.

The results are... interesting. See for yourself, and enjoy:

All in all, I did all right, considering that this was an extremely fast blitz match. Lessons learned: don't keep shoving your pawn down the board, and don't halt your attack to randomly chase after irrelevant material that won't save you.

Thanks for reading! Since you've clearly taken out so much of your time to read my work, why not take a little bit more and leave a comment telling me what you thought of it? I appreciate each and every thing that you say, as long as it's not incredibly abusive, ridiculous, or pointless.

See you next time! Check back in next Sunday for another game.
