Stop Playing Bullet

Have you been playing bullet chess lately? Stop doing it. Bullet chess trains and rewards quick thinking, which can be helpful skills. But in chess, it's not. Bullet chess is "Premove everything, don't calculate" while slower time controls are "Calculate and move the best line, don't worry about the clock unless you don't have much time." Hikaru didn't get good at bullet by playing it everyday. He got good by playing standard, slower time controls and taking those skills to bullet. If you're guilty, it's not too late to ditch it. Start playing longer time controls and it will benefit your bullet and standard chess.

I talk about chess, chess variants, events, whatever I feel like.
