Two games of Marcel Duchamp against Henri Bertrand in 1925; Nice & Paris
The head photo is from L'Éclaireur du dimanche of Sep 6, 1925 [in gallica.bnf.fr], for the 3rd French chess championship at Nice. It should be of the first day. I faced some difficulty in recognizing the players, but I think that at least I detected Duchamp and Bertrand in the end.
On the last 9th round of Sep 10, Duchamp and Bertrand played the following game; Duchamp's final knight play is a move-sequence that had impressed me, when I had first noticed it.
Henri Bertrand was a Paris player, who participated in the French championships of the time with good results; he finished 2nd in Strasbourg 1924 & 4th in Nice 1925. He also played in the Paris championships of 1925, 1926 & 1927, taking the 4th, 2nd and 5th place respectively. But then he seems disappearing. His name can be seen again in later events; i.e. the french championships of 1941 & 1942, and the Paris ones of 1938, 1941 & 1943, but I couldn't verify that it was about the same person [source: http://heritageechecsfra.free.fr/].
The following game was played in December 1925 in Paris, and was published with Bertrand's notes.
