Return to Chess: A Battle Through Mental Health and Other Life Obstacles

Hey, everyone.  My name is Jack Connelly, and this is my return to chess.
Some of you may relate to this story; I began playing chess at 15 years old, and was immediately hooked.  Day and night, all I did was study and play chess.  I competed in tournaments, started a club at school, taught lessons, watched videos on Chess.com, became a Chess.com blogger, and even began teaching a chess class.  I was in love.
Along the road, I dealt with many human struggles.  Mainly, I grappled with anxiety and depression, which were 2 mental health obstacles that I had trouble overcoming.  Likewise, I began college and intense school studying, which filled a lot of my time.  Eventually, as a culmination of my newer life, I lost my passion for chess.
Now, 1 year removed from chess tournament play, I recently turned 20 years old.  I feel as if I've turned a corner in my life and feel much more mature, passionate, and purposeful than ever before.  Until July 30th (which will be my first tournament back), I will be posting a blog each day by around 8:30 PM EST--as well as an accompanying video--describing my training regimen in order to attempt to get back into shape.  The video will be at the bottom of the blog.
Now, because I understand this fact, I'll address an "elephant in the room," so to speak: I am not an incredible chess player, and my rating has dipped considerably in the past year.  As I state in the video, the goal for me is not to be a world-class, master chess player as it was for me in the past.  Moreover, the goal is also not self-validation from the Internet.  This is truly just for me to prove to myself that I can overcome stumbling blocks, put out a goal, and then work hard to reach it.  If I can inspire or help someone out along the way, that'll be a blessing for me as well.  I hope y'all enjoy,
Jack
