The Revival of the Chigorin Ruy Lopez
Dear readers,
I am happy to announce that my Chessable course 'Lifetime repertoire: Werle's 1.e4 e5' has been released today.
A pivotal part of the course encompasses the Ruy Lopez, in which I recommend the Chigorin variation for the black player. With delight and success I have played this strategical variation myself throughout the years. It is a forgotten opening, but after months of hard work I can proudly say that the Chigorin is fully playable again! For every player, amateur till professional, and especially for the ones who want to reach a strategical position with equal chances after the opening, and easy to remember.
Let me show you some key positions of the main lines in the Chigorin, starting with the game in which Magnus Carlsen was beaten by GM Hansen last year:
More to follow, e.g. aout the Italian opening, Scotch, and 4 knights, Vienna and King's gambit.
