Hello, everyone.....just a few random thoughts. I have been inspired to do this particular blog post by two games.....one by Arjun Erigaisi, from the last Olympiad, and the second one by Praggnanandhaa.....

Now, Arjun played the Steinitz Deferred Defense to the Ruy Lopez against GM Sjugirov, and won in great style, nurturing a small advantage in the endgame...

So I thought I would show two games by Steinitz playing his own system.

And next up is Praggnanandhaa with a game form last year's Candidates Tournament. This game was from Round 3. If I remember correctly, Vidit had beaten Nakamura in 29 moves, with the Black pieces!

So next up was Praggnanandhaa, who played the Siesta Variation, introduced by Capablanca.....so here is one game by Capablanca with this variation, and one by the great Rashid G. Nezhmetdinov!

Next, we have two games by David Bronstein, where he does not even play ....a6!

And finally, two games where Albin Planinc shows great fantasy in playing 1.....e5 with Black!

I hope you have enjoyed the games. More to follow!

Peace.
