Nice Greek Gift Sac with Trompowsky Attack (+ Video)
Hey guys!
Today we are analyzing a game I won with Greek Gift Sacrifice. The game is also special to me since it happened in a Trompowsky Attack Variation. This is a line that I had always liked, but never seriously studied, and in the last months I have been analyzing it thoroughly and playing it more frequently, and the result has been more interesting and dynamic games (like this one we see today).
About Greek Gift Sacrifice
If you have not studied this typical sacrifice, you should know that there are certain conditions in the position that can help you know that the sacrifice should actually work:
- Pawns in front of the Castled King are in the Base (h7, g7, f7)
- Attacking Bishop, Queen and Knight can go to h7, h5, and g5 respectively
- No enemy piece can defend h7 (like a Bishop on f5 or a Knight on f6 or f8)
- Not totally essential, but often a very good help (sometimes key): a Pawn on e5
