Chebanenko Slav introduction (video)
Guide to the Chebanenko Slav (also known as Chameleon or a6-Slav)
Chebanenko Slav, Chameleon or simply a6-Slav, is a great opening choice for Black against 1.d4, especially for those interested in getting into positional, strategic middlegame. This video is an introduction into the main plan and key ideas, with a structural aproach to easily understand this opening.
I'll just add that to me it seems like the Chebanenko is difficult to play as a beginner or intermediate level player, cause there are too many transpositions into various systems and openings, such as Grunfeld, Queen's Gambit Declined (Cambridge Springs, or classical), Catalan, Meran, Semi-Slav, Tarrasch defense... also, there are many possibilities to get into different pawn structures, such as Carlsbad pawn structure, Semi-Slav structure, Grunfeld, isolated queen's pawn, etc.
Overall, an amazing opening that offers too many things to a player who already knows other opening systems, and now wants to put all that knowledge together.
