Hi!
As a non-paying member of chesscom, I get a lot of advertisements on the side. There's three of them on this page alone: one asking me to do the chess personality quiz, one wanting me to go to YouTube to check out Levy or Hikaru (note that I'm calling both of these content creators by their first name, so as either to suggest a non-existing personal connection or to reaffirm the "brand" status that these guys have).
I figured it'd be fun to respond to these ads for a second. All these are taken directly from the site.

Well, I can certainly turn a drawish position into a hopeless one. But I have my doubts whether it'd qualify as sorcery.
Rozman subjected to the lie detector. It'd make for a very entertaining video for sure. But the only thing I want to know is if he thinks whether he'd make a good character in an H.P. Lovecraft story.
Why would I want unlimited game review?? I barely have time to have a look at just the rapid games that I play!
I suspect that Kevin might be behind this for his Valentine's pool. The time for this to be answered was February 14th, so this will have to wait for another couple hundred days. Hold your breaths until then (not literally, you won't make it).
Somehow the still they picked for this looks like Nakamura is being inflated, and they forgot to mention this to him until moments before they paused the video. Would this really be the best of chess on YouTube?
Since when has Instagram become a chess dating app?
Am I: That's a question that the philosophers have been pondering for ages. Descartes thinks he is because he thinks (or so he thinks), which sounds like circular reasoning and special pleading.
Me as a scientist would be mad to begin with. So my answer here is: yes and no, therefore yes and no.
For once I have to agree that Carlsen is (still) the best of chess, whether I'd be a fan of him or not. Here Carlsen looks way too pleased with himself.
No. At times I can be what Snape beautifully describes as "an insufferable know-it-all," but I don't think I'd be so blatantly arrogant as to adopt "Mastermind" as my middle name.
After having gone through this list I think I'll keep the ads for a little longer. Who knows what gems I'll be able to respond to in the future.
The only reason why I'd get rid of these ads is because they can be distracting when playing a longer game of chess.
The game
After a bit of a rest day yesterday, I'm back on the job for more madness. Today's game felt a bit fragmented, but it was alright in the end. I did mess up some puzzles, but on the other hand I won my Puzzle Battle and managed to bring home two blitz games.
The game was quite a tough one that ultimately ended in a draw.
My thoughts:
I'll analyse this game at a later stage.
Tomorrow I'll likely play my game, post it on here, and leave for most of the day. Hopefully Sunday will be when the magic will happen. Or can I still say that after my response to the advertisement above?
