Group D kicked off today in the PRO Chess League Summer Series, which allows fans to participate along with a single player from each team in the division every week. The Series is split up into four divisions, each with four teams. If you want to know more about the rules, here is the official information about the tournament.

Montreal Chessbrahs (54.5) vs. Cannes Blitzstreams (53.5)

Much to my disappointment, Montreal eked out a last second victory in this match. Cannes was leading the whole time, but choked, only needing to win 1 out of the last 5 games to win the match. We lost all five. But before we skip to the end of the match, let's take a look at my games:

And now back to the end of the match, as Eric Hansen (Montreal) delivered a much-needed win against Kevin Bordi (Cannes) in the battle of the streamers on Board 1.
In the meantime, redbunnybun and Mzungu reached winning positions and scored the crucial points for Montreal to win the match.
Despite the unfortunate performance from my team, I was satisfied with my own play and score. This was the first time I scored 2/2 in one of these live club matches. Here is my stream of the match:

Knockout Battles

The Knockout Battles saw Hansen cruise through a rematch against Bordi with a nice exchange sacrifice.

However, Andrew Tang (Minnesota) vs. Jon Ludvig Hammer (Norway) came down to the wire starting with a tense draw in their rapid game. In the bullet tiebreak, it seemed like all was lost for Hammer, but he managed to get a perpetual to win the match with draw odds.
And thus, the final would be between Hansen and Hammer while Tang took on Bordi for third place in yet another London System.

Minnesota Blizzard (45) vs. Norway Gnomes (31)

I was more lucky this time as the team I played for and picked to win was successful. Here are both of my wins as I reached a 4/4 score in what was definitely my best week thus far.

And here is my stream of that match:
