200 degrees Coffee and Chess

An informal chess-oriented meet-up for Leicester-based digital nomads, coffee-shop wantrepreneurs and easily distracted students.

We play on Thursdays from 1730 onwards at 200° Coffee Shop in the city centre, but you’ll often find games being played throughout the week.

Open to players of all abilities, although we strive to maintain a standard of coffee significantly higher than the standard of chess.

Enthusiasm mandatory, competence optional. Newbies and compulsive Queen-blunderers welcome.

A few house rules:

1. Entry fee: 1 coffee.
2. Touch whichever pieces you want, but no take-backs.
3. No clocks, unless by mutual consent.
4. Spectators welcome. Backseat commentary and unsolicited advice will be met with ritual ridicule.
