Hello again everyone. Since we have been unsuccesful in getting this chess.com group transferred to us, I've created a new one named 'KC Knights'. Chess.com won't let me post the invite link here but please give it a search and let me know if you have any trouble finding it.
Please join to recieve up to date happenings! See y'all on Mondays at the KCK south branch library!
Good news! We have been accepted by the KCK South Branch Library as a program and will be able to meet there consistently (and far away from karaoke) for the forseeable future. Meetings will start on September 18th (Monday) at the same time (6-8:30). More details coming but for now what I need are club name ideas to get a new communications set up! 'The 'Dotte Chess Club' is the only suggestion so far (that I remember).
Hello everyone! No chess club this Monday due to the holiday. I believe we are finally close to securing a permanent location though! Along with that we will probably be moving to a new method of communication since we haven't been able to get the chess.com group transferred. Discord has been suggested but let me know if anybody has ideas!
Hello everyone! We have a location for this week - Aug 28th 6-8:30. We will be meeting at the KCK **South Branch** Library again. This time no karaoke.
Address is 3104 Strong Ave, Kansas City, KS 66106
Hello everyone! We will not be having pur regular monday meeting this week as we continue to search for a useable space. There are also some administrative decisions that need to be made for the club over the next week. If youd like to be part of those discussions please send me your email in a dm.
Hey everyone! For this week we will be meeting at the KCK SOUTH BRANCH library. We'll do our normal meeting time of 6pm - 8:30pm. Please help spread the word!
If anyone knows of a free/very cheap space that we can use on a more permanent basis please message me and/or John (jorymil)
Hello everyone - a handful of us met at 6 pm Monday at the KCK Public Library. We have the space for both Monday, 7/17, and Monday, 7/24, so would love to see you at 6 pm both days. Hopefully by then, some more permanent meeting space can be found, and we'll have spoken with Anna about a more permanent disposition for the club.
It seems that many of you are willing to chime in the work, and so the best would be if you guys can come together and chat and divide up the events and what needs to be done. I'm not in KS, I'm just the affiliate contact from chess.com. Happy to help with any information but basically it's best if you guys come together. Let me start a forum
I'd also like to know about Andrew's martial arts background, and if that can/should be incorporated into the memorial tournament. It's not something you see in general, possibly because of Swiss System pairing constraints.
Something I'd like to do is hold a benefit/memorial tournament for Andrew is August. A few people have mentioned this idea and I think it'd be a great way to honor his legacy. No planning has happened on that yet, until an appropriate time to contact his family. Stay tuned for more details there but let me know if you have any thoughts/ideas.
