Welcome to Metropolitan Chess, Inc.   The United States Chess Federation has designated Metropolitan Chess, Inc. the 2011 Chess Club of the Year and NM Ankit Gupta the 2011 Organizer of the Year.   This is the homepage of Metropolitan Chess, Inc., located in Downtown Los Angeles. The corporation runs regular GM/IM norm round robin tournaments, runs GM/IM norm swiss tournaments, IM norm qualifier tournaments, holds GM/IM/FM commentaries, simuls, lectures, and much more -- while being open to the entire public.   The organization's (optional) membership dues (and list of benefits) are located under the Support Section.     As the organization expands, more events will be held.   This VIDEO by Icehat Creative from the 2nd Metropolitan Chess FIDE Invitational named after Jimmy Quon gives a fresh point of view of the organization's mission statement and goals.   From May 11th to 15th, the 5th Metropolitan Chess FIDE Invitational named after Sean Christian Reader will be held. Concurrently, the 3rd Metropolitan Chess FIDE Qualifier will be held.   From August 17th to 21st, super-GM Mickey Adams, GM Loek van Wely, GM Ilya Smirin, GM Timur Gareev, GM Dejan Bojkov, GM Mark Paragua, GM Mesgen Amanov, GM Robert Ruck, GM Dmitry Gurevich and GM Melikset Khachiyan are currently slated to play in a 9 round Swiss tournament, the 1st Metropolitan International, that will offer the opportunity for GM and IM norms. Swiss System tournaments in which the competitors include at least 20 FIDE Rated players, not from the host federation, do not require individual foreign player requirements for norms. MORE INFORMATION...   The 1st Metropolitan International currently has 25 foreign players, 10 grandmasters, and 36 titled players registered.
