Use this channel to discuss the naming of trivial openings or openings with which the naming rights have been given or rescinded to the community. Make any suggestion you like as long as they follow the Opening Explorer Naming Conventions. You can even just type words, names of people, places, films, books, music, stuff you think would make for great Opening names. Use this page to debate naming ideas. Most naming ideas for trivial (generally rubbish) openings within the explorer will be voted on by admins and coordinators based on your suggestions. This is to save time because there are literally thousands (probably millions) out there. For important Openings where the naming rights have been given to the community, proper polls and votes will be conducted from the best (and seemingly most popular) suggestions and a News Item will be made stating that there is a vote. If you have naming rights or would like to make a suggestion for an Openings name, please follow the 4pc Opening Explorer Naming Convention: An Opening name shall not be offensive. An Opening name shall not be implicative of any chess website, company or organisation. An Opening name should not be named in such a way as to cause unecessary confusion. An opening name shall not be named after any chess terms or concepts unless it is strictly reflective of that chess term or concept. Names should not be so long as to be difficult or incumbersome to remember. Unless documented otherwise, or a line is so common as to make giving rights to any one person rediculous, then the rights to naming an Opening will be given to the person or persons who first played an Opening as indicated by the 4pc game database.

This thread is for the use of Admins and volunteers. If there is something that requires immediate Admin attention or you would like to volunteer, then by all means post that here. Note: Coordinators - People who have asserted their right to be a part of voting on the name's of trivial openings (based on the suggestions of the community). Admins - People who volunteer their time to make entries for the Explorer and can edit/delete your posts if deemed necessary. SuperAdmins - Big Bosses. These guys are responsible for maintaining and running the Explorer. They will generally lead the direction of the Explorer and call in community votes when needed. Use this thread to discuss the discovery of new openings you think we should add to the explorer. Please note: - Even if you are the first to mention an opening it will be customary of volunteers to find the first person or persons to play the actual opening and hand over to them their naming rights (this is done to avoid disputes). - If an opening you have created is submitted into the Explorer by another person when you did not want the opening to be made public, then the opening will be submitted anyway to resolve disputes regarding independent discovery. If you are the first to play this opening then the naming rights to it will be given to you but the opening will be considered public knowledge from then on regardless of who submits it. We reccomend that if want your openings to remain private then you limit who you share the opening with and how often you play it.
