white mates in 4 !! how ??

A mate can be set up with two knights against the lone king , but it cannot be forced mate. White can sometimes mate with two knights if black has a pawn .

The pawns in front of the castled king usually defend most strongly if left unmoved. However, if the rooks get into action,if files are opened,and if minor pieces are traded off,the confinement of the king to his first rank by his own pawns may be dangerous. The rook check on the first rank will be mate if that rank is insufficiently protected.
