Have you guys noticed that chesscom has updated the flags displayed next to our usernames? Cause I sure did, and it’s a great update, and you can finally see the eagle on Mexico’s flag!!!!! It’s also much more vibrant and bright. My only thing is that they don’t have all 50 stars in the US flag, however, that’s perfectly fine, cause I don’t know how you can fit that much detail in a flag that’s probably only 50 pixels in area on your screen.

I self-dated this to be around pre-WWI to WWI times, so I’m guessing around 1917-1919 maybe, due to the heavy colonialization of Africa in the map, and the existence of the USSR. What do you guys think about it?

My history teacher does this thing one Thursday a month where we draw connections between what we are learning in his class and what is happening in the world at this moment. Here is his rubric/instructions: Current Event Thursday’s Every other thursday, will be a current event day.. Current event thursday’s will allow students to make connections and see how the present is shaped by the past. They will also become more connected with the world and current events. They will participate in small group share and wholeclass discussion and will also watch the NBC weekly news for kids broadcast. Current Event Instructions In sentence form, tell me where you got the article from. Include the name of the newspaper, magazine or internet site and the date it was published (must be in the last 3 months). Tell me the title of the article. No travel sites, no Wikipedia. Article should be of interest to you. write a summary of the article. Make sure to use your own words. connect the article to something we have studied in history this year. Try and connect the article to topics that we have covered in class. Provide details on how these facts relate to your article. Travel 20 years into the future and imagine how the world might be different because of the article you selected. Be creative. Current Event Thursday’s are due the day before class (wednesday nite) they will be submitted directly into schoology.
