It's been a long time since the lions made the playoffs. 1999. 3 years ago Detroit became the ultimate laughingstock of the NFL going 0-16. 3 years later, we will play in the post season!

I was sitting there watching the CBS coverage of the Lions game (which was not the featured game in my area) and the network decided it was too much of a blowout to continue and they switched to another game. Who'da thunk that it would be the Lions dominating the game? The boys are looking very good this year so far. If Stafford can stay healthy, I think that they'll be competing for home field advantages. I can't believe that it is happening after the last couple years.

Yes you read that right. I have been using the notes to post about our preseason, but this deserved a forum. The Lions defensive line were all over Brady last night, while Matthew Stafford was 12/14 for 200+ yards. In the second half, while our 2nd and 3rd stringers were in, Bill still had Brady and their starters in. The lions still outplayed them. The final was 34-10.

Our coach had a contest on Twitter for naming our defensive line a while back, the winner being "Blue Crush." Personally, I think this is a better name for a soft drink, but I guess it's okay. Anyway, our D-line looks good this season, we've got Suh, Vanden Bosh, and now Nick Farley from the draft. Our secondary could use improvement though, so I hope our opponents run more than pass.

The Detroit Lions ended the season on a four game winning streak, defeating Green Bay, Tampa Bay, Miami, and Minnesota. I know many Lions fans have said this, (I know I have) but I think next year if we stay healthy, we could be a serious threat to other teams and possibly in the mix for a playoff bearth. What do you think?

The Lions have pulled off two stunning upsets in a row, The Green Bay Packers and now the Tampa Bay Bucs in overtime! These wins probably eliminated both teams from playoff contention, because the Packers have a low chance of catching the Chicago Bears (9-4) and the Saints and Falcons are ahead of the Bucs in the NFC South. Our new coach really changed the culture of the Lions Franchise and next year I really think they are going to turn the corner.

It seems that even the Chicago fans are of the belief that it was a catch and the rule is poorly conceived. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4s_EPK9MtJE Having the ruling explained, I still don't see the difference of him leaving the ball on the ground or flipping it into the air. I think that they blew the call and have covered their backsides with some crazy interpretation of an already poor rule.

The lions defeated Denver 25-20 last night in their 2nd preseason game. http://espn.go.com/nfl/recap?gameId=300821007

We won our first vote chess game ever against Chicago. It was on time, but a victory nonetheless.

I think I will challenge another NFL team to a vote chess. On an unrelated note, despite our recent performances, I am excited about our next season!

Hey guys, I've been and will continue to be asleep at the wheel of this group. If any of you have ideas and energy to make this group better, feel free to let me know. I'd be happy to turn over the reigns to someone who might make it more enjoyable. My apologies but I just can't get motivated to come up with anything. I know someone has to become a new admin before I can step down. I'm not really sure how it's done but I'll try if you let me know.

I was hoping the Lions would have picked a linebacker, or corner before they took a QB but there are sooooo many glaring weaknesses in the lineup that I guess it really might not matter. As it stands, the Lions are looking to install the run and shoot offense and I think Stafford might just be the guy who can get it done. Detroit's got the receivers and they have Culpepper to take the beating while Stafford learns the ropes. With an improved running game and a more effective pass game, I look for a decent improvement in the Lions record.
