I have made the following bug report/suggestion to both DGT and to chess.com. I'm uncertain if this will get anyone's attention, but I suspect that it will get more attention if more people see these issues and voice similar concerns. If you see these issues and would like to see them fixed, please feel free to make similar requests.
Chess.com will sometimes record inaccurate captures when using a DGT e-board. I believe this happens when I make a move before Chess.com has seen the update for my opponent’s last move from the board. For example, my opponent moved h3. I moved Bc6, but chess.com recorded Bxh3 immediately after I lifted the bishop from c8, and before I placed it down on the board. I believe chess.com knew there was a pawn on h3 because my opponent moved it there, but the update from my board somehow didn’t include the pawn on h3 yet, so as soon as I lifted the bishop it though I must have captured the pawn on h3.
Also, I sometimes make my opponent’s moves inaccurately on the board. When this happens, chess.com carries on as if I had made the move correctly. It would be much better if chess.com would make a buzz sound to indicate I have made an error when it receives my update inaccurately.
In either of the above, I suspect all problems would be solved by requiring chess.com to receive updates from my board showing the moves my opponent makes recorded from the board before allowing my subsequent move to be recorded and issuing a buzz if any illegal, inaccurate, or if my move has been made before my opponent’s move as been recorded correctly.
Is there anything I can do to help facilitate these changes?
