TIME CONTROL
Each player in a match plays one game as White and one game as Black, with a time control of 15 minutes with a 10 second increment.
DIVISIONS
As far as is possible the teams will be arranged in divisions of 8, each team playing every other team once, giving 7 matches for the 7 scheduled rounds. If there are more than 8 teams in a division then the fixtures will be generated as a ranked swiss rather than all-play-all.
With the exception of Division 1 a rating restriction will apply to each division reflecting the estimated strength of the teams in that division. For Season 3 with 3 divisions the rating restrictions will be Open, Under 1650 and Under 1350.
The rating restriction will apply to the average chess.com rapid rating of the players representing the team on the day of the match. However, the team captains may by mutual agreement relax the rating restrictions to allow larger matches to take place or accommodate unusual circumstance
TEAM COMPOSITION
Each team must have a captain to manage the team's fixtures and report match results. The captain may be non-playing.
4 players minimum, no maximum.
Unless otherwise agreed with the administrator players should be members or past members dating back 10 years of that club, or live within 10 miles of the club.
Clubs may enter more than one team, but not more than one team in the same division.
A player may play for more than one club if each of the clubs concerned is in a different division.
A player may play for any or all of the teams entered by the same club if the grading restrictions applying to the lower divisions are not broken. In other words, guesting is allowed for teams of the same club, but a team playing in the lower divisions with guest players must still fit the grading restrictions.
All juniors should be of high school age to use Chess.com or be registered to play with supervision of team captains with parental permission.
SCHEDULING OF MATCHES
Each team should specify a home match night when their home matches will be played by default. The fixtures will be scheduled accordingly.
Each team should also specify the number of players they will have available for each match by default.
With these pre-arrangements in place there is no need for the captains to arrange the date and number of players before each match unless these need to change for any reason.
Matches should start at 7.30 pm.
PLAYING OF MATCHES
As far as is practical the players should assemble at least 10 minutes before the match is due to start to allow time for team adjustments if necessary.
The home team captain enters the match result into SwissSystem and the away team captain verifies.
ARBITRATION
The Iceni Live League is constituted as a friendly league. There is an assumption of innocence, that issues will only arise by accident not design. We therefore ask that issues are addressed amicably by the team captains and there is no recourse to a League arbiter. There is however a captains forum where issues can be discussed.
FEEDBACK
Any feedback you may will be gratefully received. Post your feedback on this forum, or contact the Administrator.
