Please come along, pop in and say hello and play some over the board chess! If you are part of the competition, there are no new games until I get all games completed so I can pair everyone accordingly. I hope to see you all there!

The English Chess Federation have made available 2 booklets (lots of diagrams, an easy read)of An Introduction to Chess "suitable for players graded under 1200 Elo" Some good tips/reminders for us all? See the Chess.com news - we can have evenly matched games (unrated) https://www.chess.com/article/view/chess-com-month-in-review-october-2020 Odds Play for DAILY (unrated) games available in the PLAY interface (feature will come for Live soon - no news on Arena tournaments) If you create a challenge for a friend who is rated significantly higher or lower than you are you will be prompted to select an "Odds game" ..."Auto-Balance" or you can choose type of difference (e.g. less pieces, starting positions etc.)
Despite the worrying increase in COVID rates, some good news for Leigh book lovers. For Chess Club sadly not yet. Leigh Library limited reopening Building on the July Click and Collect Service, they are now allowing limited browsing (20 minutes) from Friday Sep 11. Best wishes to all.
