So, believe it or not mushrooms are not the only type of fungus. Let alone the only type present in a humans day to day life. From yeast to mould, fungus is an ever present existence. Let's focus on the good today and discuss the many uses of fungi. (pls read the disclaimers at the bottom)
Yeast
Yeast is primarily found in alcoholic beverages and baked goods. They are added to speed up fermentation in doughs and wines. In fact in ancient times civilisations (like Rome and Egypt) realised that adding sugar to bread dough "resurrected" the dough. This was the yeast. The yeast ate the sugar and released CO2 as a waste product. This made the dough rise (and ferment).
Here are a few pictures of products that almost certainly used yeast in their process
-Wine
-Bread
-Cookies
-Beer
-Limburger Cheese
Mold/Penicillin
Probably the most undesirable form of fungus, but surprisingly important. Sooner or later in school, you learn about the discovery and importance of penicillin. In the field of medicine penicillin ranks at the top among medicines. Perhaps only sterilisation (of medical tools) and vaccination can compare. Penicillin can treat all types of infection. But don't you go around eating moldy bread, other molds are not so friendly to the human body.
Psilocybin
With laws changing at a rapid pace, it's becoming easier to obtain this hallucinogenic mushroom. I simply want to give an opinion. I do not know whether this will continue, but research seems to indicate that this might be one of the next mushroom related breakthroughs in medicine. Through experimentation it seems like this previously outlawed substance has positive effects on mental illnesses (when given in safe doses). I hope that it will be equivalent to penicillin. A breakthrough in treating horrible illnesses like depression, dementia and others. If we can lessen the impact that mental illness can have on the ailed individuals and their loved ones, I could not be more happy. There's another disclaimer so read that too.
That's about it, read the disclaimers before moving on with your life pls. Have a good day.

I'm not sure, but I might edit out the part about psilocybin at a later date.
