Hi, Use all stages of evaluation (opponent's threats, positional, tactical- in that order, you can find some more info here if you are new to it) to suggest a plan and a move in this position:
Hello, Well done on the previous position of the day! Take a look a this one, and apply the same principals to find good (or even best!) move here. base every move suggestion on full evaluation of the position- opponent's threats, then positional evaluation, then tactical evaluation, and the final decision. Enjoy!
In this forum, we will analyze games together (each game in a new thread). I will start with an instructive game. What I want from you is to identify and analyze critical moments from the game. Try to find the critical moments, and after writing your evaluation try to find a plan and think of a move. Then, compare it to what happened in the game, and try to decide whether what happened in the game is a better option or a mistake (in case your was different). base your opinion on analysis of variations and share your thoughts. Enjoy improving :-)

Hey guys! In the following position it's black's move, and it's not so easy to decide what the plan and move should be. The reason being that from first glance it looks as if white has tons of threats. So we base our descision on positional and tactical evaluation, as we have seen from my article. Try reaching a good move for black here based on the same thought process:
You've shown me just how physically love can be, and how lustfully a kiss should be. Since then I have lost it all. I lost my mind inside your heart, I lost my soul inside your bed, I lost my sanity in flames, I lost my light, inside the night. I lost the hate, the anger and the pain, and got some love, some passion and some rain. But now that you have went astray, I can't stand being sane again.
Hi, in this forum I will post a daily position, asking you to write the evaluation of the position using the tools given in my article, and offer a plan and a move. Then, together with me, we will discuss the quality of the evaluation, and different ideas from chess that reflect in the position. Today's position is: So, analyze opponent threats first, then give a full evaluation, and upon that base a plan and suggest a move. Please, dont guess, analyze!
these are 2 games that I played at 1:30-2am a while after my lesson (I have to stop doing that!). I was doing my best to apply the principles I am learning, but as you can see there are many errors. I wanted to post the games however as some of the things that I have learnt are the reasons I won the games. I will point out where my thinking has changed: Edit: I meant to say that in the second game 9.Bg3 is a major change in my game play. I pointed out the reasons why, but forgot to say that this is new to me.

Then, together with me, we will discuss the quality of the evaluation, and different ideas from chess that reflect in the position. Today's position is: Give full evaluation of the position- opponent threats, space, development, quality of pieces, material. Then, check possible tactical shots for the side you play for (here-black). As a part of this, I want you to tell my your opinion about the tactical move Nxd5- try to check the variations and evaluate them. I hope you like it, -Philip
Hey guys, I found this beautiful instructive game played in 1930: Take a look, and share your thoughts and opinions with me and the group.

Hey guys, It's my recent game, what I would like you to do, is to think whether white's (played by me) plans were correct in the decisive moments. The game ended in a draw by agreement- do you think it was indeed an equal position? Answer the last question using evaluation tools from my first article. -Philip

Hello my friends, I found this nice little gem, played in 1835 between two masters, and want to share it with you. The reason is that it's very instructive in the field of thought process before making a move. The advantage went from one side to the other, as threats weren't dealt with correctly, until the eventual forcing termination of the game. For you to enjoy, analyze and share opinions with me and the group. Hope you like it as much as I did, -Philip

Hi everybody! I'm a rather weak player, and I need some opinions on this game I recently won. It seems that all the games I win though are because of another player's mistakes. Can anyone give me some pointers on how to play better positionally? Ok, so anyway, this is my game against a 1449, I'm a 1237: Any thoughts, suggestions, ideas? BTW, here's the opening:
