1) All team members should "follow" the discussion by clicking the box in the comments section. 2) NO vote should be made that was not discussed in the comments. 3) Wait for the stronger players, like our Vote Chess Admins, to evaluate candidate moves before voting. 4) After you vote, POST THE VOTE COUNT, so that members who have not yet voted can see the situation at hand. 5) BE POLITE - we are all on the same team - if you do not agree with another member, do so in a polite manner. Please refrain from negative comments that might hurt other people's feelings 6) Voting should be done in the last 24 hours to allow for discussion and ensure the best move is voted for, unless otherwise stated by an admin (for example, when a move is forced).

after losing about 40 games I beat the first of the Botez sisters, (without any assistance) and I got my first brilliant move in the analysis although it doesn't seem brilliant it looks like the necessary move to me. move 41 Bxb6

I won't be posting any of my blogs here anymore, since I've become a top blogger. You can just go to the Blogs page and you'll see my posts there! Thanks to everyone who supported me on my way here!
Before jumping into the lines, theory, and variations of the King's Indian Defense, we need to understand the main ideas. We will start from the bottom and work our way up, so this first post will outline the most basic aspects of the KID and the simple ideas at work. https://www.chess.com/blog/colorfulcake/the-kid-breaking-it-down-to-the-basics Thanks for reading!

The King's Indian Defense has always been a favorite of mine. And for a while I've wanted to share my knowledge, but haven't had the time or willpower to do it. But now on this carefree Sunday I managed to pull myself together and start a series on the KID. Today I will not go into detail about any variation, as this is just the intro to the opening and outlining what you can expect to see throughout the series. Here are some lines that we will be going over. Please note that some can transpose into others, so most of the posts will be about certain ideas about how to play different positions. e4 on the fourth move variations: The Orthodox System, leading to the Classical The Saemisch (or spelled with an umlaut a) Variation The Standard Development, which will usually transpose to the Orthodox and Classical The Four Pawns Attack Some uncommonly played variations, like the Makogonov or Kramer Variations Delayed e4 variations (in these white can choose whether or not to play e4 later on if black allows it): 3. g3 Variation (different move orders can reach the Fianchetto Variation) Tarkatower Attack (can also transpose to the Fianchetto Variation) Fianchetto Variation Smyslov Variation Early h4 pushes This series will not teach you how to play against certain replies to 1...Nf6 such as the Trompowsky Attack or Stonewall setups. I will be focusing on variations where white either plays e4 immediately, delays it, fianchettoes the light-squared bishop, and a few sidelines. https://www.chess.com/blog/colorfulcake/openings-crash-course-introduction-to-the-kid Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoy.

Hi all! I've been improving since I started the study plan, and it is showing in my rating. I am now 2014. I gain of 30 points may not seem to be a lot, but at this level it is quite significant. There's a few games that I played and analyzed for you to play over. I'm going to the US Open to watch the quarterfinals tomorrow, which is why I am posting today instead of tomorrow. From now on I will only post these weekly updates here every two weeks, but you can get notifications when I post each week (sometimes multiple times a week) by following me or friending me, I will accept all friend requests unless I know you to be a troll, spammer, or general dislikable person. Reaching for 2200 Week 2: Back to School Blues https://www.chess.com/blog/colorfulcake/reaching-for-2200-back-to-school-blues Reaching for 2200 Week 3: 186 Points to Go https://www.chess.com/blog/colorfulcake/reaching-for-2200-186-points-to-go Thanks for reading!
Hello everyone! Over the next few weeks I will be posting some of my best games played here on chess.com. All of these will be in time control 10|0 so you will see some exciting games (and mistakes). Here is the first one. I am playing black with one of my favorite response to d4, the Kings Indian Defense. Hope you enjoy it!
Have you ever wondered how to reply to the Dragon? Does the dark-squared bishop staring down the long diagonal frighten you? Today we're going to fix that. https://www.chess.com/blog/colorfulcake/how-to-crush-the-sicilian-dragon Thanks for reading, I hope you now are ready to fight the Dragon!
My fourth day of tactics training! I have a new plan (yet again). Today I did half an hour of Puzzle Battle and 20 rated puzzles. My scores are getting better and better! I hope you enjoy it, thanks for reading! https://www.chess.com/blog/colorfulcake/tactics-training-day-4-puzzle-battle-and-my-new-plan
Last time I compared analysis with another 1850, which was a very interesting experience, and one that I wanted to repeat. chamo2074 was waiting for this, and he was the perfect rating! For all of those French devotees out there, you're going to love this. https://www.chess.com/blog/colorfulcake/game-analysis-comparison-part-3-another-1850-french-grind Thanks for reading!
I was a little late in posting this (life is busy), but here it is anyway. In this post I analyze one of the most famous immortal games ever, a flashy game of Rubinstein's where he stuns his opponent with an exchange sacrifice, a queen sacrifice, a full rook sacrifice, and then forces mate with all of his remaining pieces. It's a brilliant show of combinational understanding and will always be educational and fun to play over. Hope you enjoy it, thanks for reading! https://www.chess.com/blog/colorfulcake/akiba-rubinsteins-immortal-game-immortal-games-part-2

I haven't been improving as much as I want to, so I decided to try out chess.com's study plan. Today is my first day, and I'm starting with the first topic on the list, Openings. That's something that I really need to work on, since I don't have a solid opening repertoire. I do play the Ruy Lopez most of the time, occasionally some gambits, and am looking into 1. d4, but I need to strengthen my knowledge. I know that endgames and middlegames, strategies and tactics are also very important, and I will get to that, but since I'm better in those topics and want to improve my openings first I will do just that. Here's my day one plan. I will be posting once a week on this, and will post on other topics in between. https://www.chess.com/blog/colorfulcake/reaching-for-2200-starting-the-chess-com-study-plan Thanks for reading! You can study along with me if you're like me and want to improve. Hopefully you're a premium member so you can access the material... unfortunately if you're not, some of the videos may not be accessible...

(https://www.chess.com/article/view/study-plan-directory) I will post updates on how I'm doing and what I did over the week once a week and will post on other topics in between. Thanks for reading!
Continuing with my tactics training plan, today I did two survival Puzzle Rushs and 20 rated puzzles. Everything's getting better! You can try to solve some of the puzzles that I did today too. https://www.chess.com/blog/colorfulcake/tactics-training-day-5-more-survival-puzzle-rush I won't be posting these links every day anymore, since they seem to be overtaking the forums page. Instead I'll just post one forum per week with all of the links for the week so that my posts don't push out all of the other forums. But if you want to get notified when post, you can follow me or friend me. Thanks for reading!
