Can only be done from 1 HOUR prior to the match. 2 ways to get to it: from UPCOMING EVENTS in team home page main chess.com page, select LIVE CHESS > TOURNAMENTS (top right corner) THEN select match you intend to JOIN - and PRESS Orange JOIN buttom.
When the match starts, both players must make their first move in under a minute, otherwise the game will abort. Each player's second game will start with colours reversed 10 seconds after their first finishes and again the one minute rule applies, so do NOT wander off, at least at the begginning. Also there is NO NEED blitzing too much, ie play too quick - It's quite a decent increment (10 seconds) so no need to blitz. TAKE IT EASY AND THINK !!! Moderately !!!
The Iceni Live League is a rapid-play team event starting 28th September and running through to the end of November 2020. See https://www.chess.com/clubs/forum/view/teams-entered-in-the-iceni-live-league-so-far for an up-to-date list of teams entered so far. It is a development of the well established Norfolk Live League and is open to teams from Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Lincolnshire. Each team plays every other team at a rate of one match per week, on a weekday evening using chess.com. Each match consists of 4 or more boards with each board playing 2 games, one as White and one as Black, with a 15 minutes plus 10 second increment time control. There are 3 divisions. Details of the tournament are given below and you are cordially invited to contact one of the administrators (see below) to enter a team. The closing date for entries is Thursday 24th September. SCHEDULE Round Week Beginning 1 28th September 2 5th October 3 12th October 4 19th October 5 26th October 6 2nd November 7 9th November 8 16th November 9 23rd November 10 30th November TIME CONTROL Each player in a match plays one game as White and one game as Black, with a time control of 15 minutes with a 10 second increment. DIVISIONS There are 3 divisions: Division 1 is open to teams made up of players of any ability with no grade/ratings restrictions. Division 2 is restricted to teams with an average ECF Rapidplay grade under 155. Division 3 is restricted to teams with an average ECF Rapidplay grade under 130. The grading restriction applies to the match team i.e. the team playing in the match on the night. The grade should be taken from the latest ECF grading list http://ecfgrading.org.uk/new/menu.php If a player does not have Rapidplay grade then the Standard grade should be used. If a player has no ECF grade then an estimate based on the player's chess.com rapid rating should be used, or an honest initial estimate if the player is new to chess.com The divisions will be sub-divided if they are over subscribed (more than 10 teams). TEAM COMPOSITION 4 players minimum, no maximum. Each team must have a captain to manage the team's fixtures and report match results. The captain may be non-playing. Clubs may enter more than one team, but not more than one team in the same division. Unless otherwise agreed with the administrator players should be members or past members dating back 10 years of that club, or live within 10 miles of the club. A player may play for more than one club if each of the clubs concerned is in a different division. A player may play for any or all of the teams entered by the same club if the grading restrictions applying to the lower divisions are not broken. In other words, guesting is allowed for teams of the same club, but a team playing in the lower divisions with guest players must still fit the grading restrictions. All juniors should be of high school age to use Chess.com or be registered to play with supervision of team captains with parent permission. Captains may, by mutual agreement, relax these restrictions to allow larger matches to take place or accommodate unusual circumstances. At the start of the first season a best guess based on available grading information will be used to distribute the teams evenly and fairly across the 3 divisions, adjusting the grading restrictions if necessary. At the end of each season thereafter a two-up, two-down promotion / relegation strategy will be applied to maintain a fair distribution across the 3 divisions. SCHEDULING OF MATCHES Teams to play on the home team‘s choice of evening at 7.30 pm unless agreed differently by the team captains. In the interests of encouraging participation in club night events, league matches should be schedules on nights that do not clash with the club night of either team. Similarly, in the interests of encouraging participation in the Iceni Live Classic, league matches should avoid Tuesdays if possible. ARBITRATION The Iceni Live League is constituted as a friendly league. There is an assumption of innocence, that issues will only arise by accident not design. We therefore ask that issues are addressed amicably by the team captains and there is no recourse to a League arbiter. There is however a captains forum where issues can be discussed. FEEDBACK Any feedback you may will be gratefully received. Post your feedback on this forum, or contact the Administrator. CONDUCTING A MATCH The players can join the match at any time in the 60 minutes before the match is due to start. See https://www.chess.com/clubs/forum/view/how-to-join-a-match We recommend players join 10 minutes ahead of the start time to allow you as captains time to sort any problems with the composition of your team. You can converse with the players using the group chat facility, and if necessary ask them to leave before the match starts to adjust the team composition. See https://www.chess.com/clubs/forum/view/how-to-withdraw-from-a-match Note that a player will not be able to join the match unless they are a member of your chess.com club. Note also that if a player happens to be a member of both chess.com clubs in the match they will not be able to join the match until they temporarily quit one of the them. See https://www.chess.com/clubs/forum/view/how-to-quit-a-chess-com-club As the players join the match, chess.com pairs them based on their chess.com rapid rating. Players new to chess.com are advised to play some preliminary 15 minute games to get their rapid rating to the right level for pairing. Each pair plays 2 games. When the match is due to start the first game starts automatically. The second game starts automatically when the first is complete. The players can converse using the game chat facility, usually at the start of the first game and after the second game is complete to avoid distracting their opponent during the games.
