A setting for "low-time warning "sound

Sort:
BabYagun

There is a special sound (in Live Chess) that warns a player having low time. But some players say that the sound distracts them and even irritates. We can create a setting for that ("Play Low-Time Warning" is a possible name), and we need your opinion, guys, about the implementation.

It can be, for example:

  • 30 seconds
  • 10 seconds
  • Never warn

Please propose your ideas, or vote for the variant above.

Yeah, me too it annoys me and I get distracted. I agree with the above proposal. Also in puzzle rush, when it rings its over for me

have you guys ever heard of turning your sound off? -_-

Imo it should be

  • 1m (rapid
  • 30s(rapid
  • 20s(blitz
  • 10s(blitz
  • 10s(bullet
  • 5s(bullet
  • And never

yup

Just have a fill-in box since otherwise we’ll get too many options.

I think it's fine if there's 60 seconds left for games 5 minutes or more. 20 more games above 1 minute and never for games less than a minute. It's annoying when your playing a 10 second game and a ringer goes off immediately. I think it should be customizable (never, 10 sec, 30 sec etc. etc.) for different time controls (less than a minutes, 1-5 minutes, etc. etc.).

@BabYagun  Not sure if it'd be too difficult to program, but it would be nice to have a "custom" option.  A a user could enter their preferred time warning in settings, depending on which variant they're playing.

What if sounds for moves and captures don't distract (and even help to react faster), but that warning sound distracts? That is why it is better to have a possibility to turn it off, or tune.

Dark_Knight_Templar

I like move and capture sounds but not the low-time warning and I also listen to music when playing. This is why I like your proposal. Of course, I could turn my sound off as was proposed (implying that we are kind of stupid), but I'd rather not..

GoldenDegree

I like move and capture sounds but not the ringer (especially in 10 sec). Muting my volume isn’t the best since I could want to be able to see other messages (from other apps, texts, alarms).

Typewriter44

You can also mute the site

GoldenDegree

The move and capture sounds though.

I like both sounds. but I like the idea of it being when you have 10% of the time you started with rounded to the nearest 5 or 10 seconds, with a minimum of 10 seconds left on the clock it will make the noise.

so 5s for 10s games and 6 minutes for 60m games?

so it would be immediate for 10s games?
