It is probably more than likely that it does exist, although I have never really "meditated" for real, so I haven't felt anything like this. Even before you give your example, I believed it existed.
Astral Projection - Myth or Fact??

Thanks for that grandmaster56 :)
Yes I believe to say distinctly it does not exist I say "you have simply not experienced it yet"

I admit right off the bat that I know little about it. I will not take either side at the present but I would probably disagree with a lot of it. Donna, being Christian, I think you need to be a lot more careful what you are doing whether or not you think it is true.

James Bond, I disagree with you here. I have directly adressed this in the big debate forum, if you can find my post in the ocean of pgs. Realize that there are five different codices that all agree very well with each other and whether or not you recognize it, the one you object to is the Codex Vaticanus...rest assured, there are also older ones that may be considered more original, but why bother considering they all agree with each other?

There see so it does happen ...
A lot of people would put that down to coincidence but after so long you stop believing in coincidences

Right...I have yet to see a coincidence, anywhere...a deep underlying structure can usually be found although with great difficulty sometimes.
James Bond, we are shifting the topic of conversation? That's OK I guess, I didn't exactly get your point....

I have to say I have great experience of the telephone call example (shame I haven't collected statistics over the years - may well be significant). But I would think of this as some sort of telepathy, rather than astral projection. But the label attached to the phenomenon is not very important.

I don't know much about this.I've heard about twins doing this sort of thing, I have two friends who are twins and experienced such things. However until there is no solid proof about this phenomena or some scientific description I'm likely to think that it is coincidence, but this is just my oppinion.

I am more likely to accept that:
1. People's brains are wired very similarly or for more extreme cases,
2. Quantum effects occur
James Bond, I would agree here that coincident "exists" only to the point that people believe it does, if you want to call that a plane, I guess you can. You are not being boring though!

If I replace "light" by "electromagnetic field" I would agree with James_Bond that we are indeed creatures of the electomagnetic field. I suppose more fully we are electromagnetic creatures subject to the gravitational field. The other two forces can be ignored for the purposes of the operation of our biological machine, and gravity is just essentially a uniform acceleration in one direction.

Well, the particles of which we are made are subject to some of the four forces, depending on which type they are. But the only essential influence of weak and strong nuclear forces relates to the stability (or otherwise) of atomic nuclei. I suppose, pedantically, also to act as a source of radiation within the body which can cause damage (he damage itself is ionisation, which is electromagnetc). This does mean that mutation is in part caused by the nuclear forces, and as a result they contribute to evolution.

I used to dabble in the "lite" occult before I became a Christian. Astral projection, Tarot card reading, automatic writing, past-lives regression, etc.
I have an analogy for A/P (as with most of the others). It's like sitting down at your computer, logging in with your username & password, then stepping AFK, and letting someone/something else sit down and drive. When you eventually come back to your PC, stuff's been done, settings have been changed, but you can never be absolutely sure what was done while you were AFK.
The issue of discussing A/P hits on the most sensitive philisophical topics; the meaning of life, existence, reality, where do we come from, is this all there is, who am I really, etc. Does astral projection seem real to the person who is attempting/doing it. Most likely. But is it any more real than the phenomena we take in through our 5 senses? All I know is that when I was in-state, it wasn't me at the controls.
I guess it depends really which side of the fence you sit on with astral projection. You either believe or you don't!!
But before you say "I am completely 100% on the side of it does not exist" ask yourself:
Have you ever been in a situation where you were thinking REALLY hard of someone and that person either rings you or texts you saying "I was thinking of you so thought I would say hi!"
That is a form of astral projection where you transfer your thoughts to that said person!!
I have been meditating for many years now as a form of relaxation that DOES work and to get to the stage where you are capable of A.P. you need to go above and beyond just normal meditation.
You have to achieve something called "Focus 10- mind awake body asleep"
This is a state where your whole body is in a natural state of sleep but your mind is awake.
