Science Speaks by Peter W. Stoner.
Best Book on Scientism

Science Speaks looks good but may be becoming dated now as it was written in 1958 and there has been a revolution in microbiology in the last 60 years.

"What Is Scientism?
Roughly, scientism is the view that the hard sciences—like chemistry, biology, physics, astronomy—provide the only genuine knowledge of reality. At the very least, this scientific knowledge is vastly superior to what we can know from any other discipline. Ethics and religion may be acceptable, but only if they are understood to be inherently subjective and regarded as private matters of opinion."

Most of the above uses "Scientism" in a deliberate derogatory way and seems to foster the false premiss of Science vs Religion.
As originally coined "Hayek was highly critical of what he termed "Scientism" a false understanding of the methods of science that has been mistakenly forced upon the social sciences, but that is contrary to the practices of genuine science."
Science (or knowledge, provable, repeatable facts) and religion (or faith-based, ecumenical posits) are two different aspects of the human condition. (paraphrasing the Pope)

Scientism is the idea that Science tells us everything we can know about reality, and every other discipline or way of knowing, is only capable of giving us opinion or myth.
Speaking against Scientism is not in anyway derogatory towards Science and what we can know through the Scientific method.
Totally agree, scientism is a perversion of actual science and is used or misused to try to prove a point or more likely a view-point using bad science or an incomplete data-set,
Unfortunately we see very similar approaches (ignore contradictory data, apply incorrect methods etc.) across many areas, where, more often than not, money is the actual motivation, historical examples include, cigarettes, lead in gas and petrol-chemicals etc. and more recently GMO's, weed-killers, climate change etc.
It seems hard to stop, in this modern age where bad science is propagated, then debunked and yet continues to be propagated and used as a string in a weight of evidence chain.

Modernism is the ideology that ultimate truth is gained only by using the scientific method. The Nazis and Soviets were the result, so people turned to postmodernism, which is way worse. In postmodernism, truth is relative, hence the phrase “your truth and my truth”. Obviously the antithesis of Scripture. This is as far as you can get from God, hence why this experiment will throw the world into a free fall during the Tribulation.
I have recently finished reading J.P.Moreland's book "Scientism and Secularism" and John Lennox's book "Can Science Explain Everything?" Both excellent. What is the best book you have read on the topic of Scientism?
