Bug [ ]: Game Review within Libraries has major problems

Sort:
sholom90

When one puts a game into a library, one can run Game Review.  OK.  Good.

Then when one goes back, the caps scores, colors, etc., have disappeared, and Game Review gets hung up (wedges).  This is incredibly frustrating -- I am simply unable to see results of game review of my games in my libraries *and* I can't re-run it.

Also frustrating: I've reported this a number of times, and can't even get any acknowledgement by the powers that be that they've seen this post or are aware of the problem.

E.g., Game Review Not Working Inside Library; Bugs and Shortcomings of Libraries of Imported Games, etc.

(Here's a game I imported from last night that won't run Game Review: https://www.chess.com/analysis/library/5mojVYQFKc in case anyone needs an example)

Well, that narrows down the issue. Good to have your input.

When visiting the link above I get this message:

I concur with your  frustration!

Overall it seems the Game Review  team has been diverted. There are a number of features that have been lost/broken which should have been quickly fixed, as the correct code already exists. But the problems persist.
1. Game review wedges in libraries
2. No time charts on review
3. Not time data in libraries
4. Move evaluation font colors broken for opponents moves
5. The UI is continuing to degrade as the move real estate becomes smaller and smaller

Also numerous UI suggestions ignored:
   a. Adding time bars to Game review tab as there is ample space.
   b. Showing move evaluation colors on Game Review tab.
   c. Moving the save/saved button the the navigation menu.
   d. Only showing the opening description at the top of the moves listing on the analysis panel.
   e. Moving the Saved Analysis icon to the navigation menu.
   f. Getting rid to the Analysis Header as it steals valuable real estate..
   g. Fixing the score's move popup to include move color.
   h. Fixing the Themes chart scroll bars to be on the edge of the panel, so one doesn't need to scroll to see the horizontal scroll and so the scroll bar doesn't overwrite the display.
   g. Adjusting the charts area width to not be restricted to the width of the board but use the other available horizontal space.
   h. Providing the ability to insert  more than a single analysis line from the 5 lines of analysis after a long think, as the other lines are lost upon inserting the only 1 permitted.
   g. Overall resizing the display  components to increase the available real estate for the move display on the analysis panel.

@jas0501 -- that's a great list, but I think you missed one.  Another color problem is that when you click on another tab (e.g., to see openings) and click back to analysis, the colors disappear.  I posted about this at:

https://www.chess.com/clubs/forum/view/bug-game-review-analysis-colors-disappear

I would add, too, that this was another thread that went completely unacknowledged by the higher ups.

i've also noted the beta review 'coach chat' getting mixed up between pieces when its referring to 'you could have made this move and won a tempo by threatening the knight' (or similar) ... when it actually means rook.

Seems so minor with all the other problems going on right now I didn't even bother reporting it, but as review as a whole has been brought up I thought i'd just add it here.

Yup, font color handling has a number of issues. I posted one about visiting other people games where the font color waffles between White and Black as one changes tabs. These are all manifestations of the same bug in the code.

In general bug threads and suggestion threads in the Beta Forum are less often acknowledged by Chess.com staff and even less so reported as ticketed.

The community would be better served if chess.com staff were more responsive to bug post's status.

So, then, how can we get somebody's attention with this?

When ever I use the bug report I get an acknowledgement within a day or two

Your one of the lucky ones. Of the many many Bug Reports I have filed, only a handful have been acknowledged.
