I believe you have to use a USB OTG cable (On The Go) ., It pushes charge from your phone into the baord to power it.
I used to use such a cable to play on a DGT EBoard on my phone. I used this:- https://amzn.to/3ZbDRkU

Hi BaronVonChickenpants
Thank you for the quick answer.
I use this adapter:

You need to make sure that the usb port on the old phone supports the OTG function. Look for this on the phone specs.
@agatti1970
Thanks!!! I looked in the phone specs. No OTG support. It is a BQ Aquaris M5 with Android 7. I use this phone only for chess.
What do you think. It is possible to connect the phone with a Y-Adapter:
- USB-B on the phone side
- USB-C for the DGT board and second for a power pack?
Ha! One million dollars question, I can't tell only by the info you shared. Please drop here a link to the Y cable and we can have a look. Main problem with such cables is twofold:
a- where is the power going, frow where to where
b- what kind of data wires are in the Y cable, going from where to where
BTW, I checked this site: https://www.gsmarena.com/bq_aquaris_m5-7839.php and it says that your old phone does support OTG. Where did you find that OTG is not supported by the phone?
In my (limited) experience I had two occasions in which the so-called "OTG adapter cable" was not actually delivering the OTG functionality, even if they were called "OTG cables". In both occasions they were called "OTG cables" and they were in the very compact form factor (i.e. like a very small plug-in adapter, similar to the one you posted here: https://de.hama.com/00200311/hama-usb-otg-adapter-usb-c-stecker-usb-buchse-usb-3-2-gen1-5-gbit-s?bySearch=HAMA%20USB-C-OTG%20AUF%20USB-A-ADAPTER
I'm not saying that it is a faulty adapter, I'm only saying that when using an OTG adapter I prefer buying the adapters that come with a USB port---little cable---usb port, and not those "all in one".
To keep a long story short, I would first try a different OTG adapter cable, even before going to the Y-cable.
Hope this helps, and that you can enjoy it soon.

..for example, this is the OTG cable I purchased: https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-Adapter-Samsung-Controller-Smartphone/dp/B00LN3LQKQ/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=UGREEN+Cavo+OTG+Micro+USB&qid=1677778094&sr=8-3
I do use it regularly with my DGT board and my old SAMSUNG phone and it works perfectly.
Hi, I can't manage to connect my DGT Smartboard to my old Android phone with WhitePawn. I use an adapter from USB-A to USB-B on the phone side. USB-C directly on the board. USB is unlocked. Does anyone have another tip for me. Thanks a lot.
