If I understand correctly one cannot make a move that produces a position that is identical to the previous position. Such as moving a rook horizonally 8 suares on an open rank.

I have no problem with that. What about castling? Some people disallow it, some people allow cross over castling (castle kingside with the queen's rook, assuming the king's rook and other king side pieces have moved out of the way). I open to whatever, but don't see any reason to change from standard castling rules.

I don't see any reason to change castling rules, although it sholud be of less significance.
1. a4

Ever played pacman?
You know how if you off of the left edge of the board you come out on the right edge? Well now your chess pieces can do the same thing! It is as if the board is wrapped around a cylinder. A knight on h4 can move to a6. If you play 1. g3, then that pins black's d pawn.
Post your move using algebraic notation. The first post (this one) will have a move list and a picture of the board. Every time I see a new post, I will update the picture of the board and turn it so that the side who's turn it is comes up in front. Make sure you track this topic so that you know when it is your move. As soon as you join the game post something so that I know. The game will begin as soon as we have 2 people ready to go.
