In the spirit of this club, it would be fair to post a list of the best free chess resources. I'll start it today and give 5 of the best free opening courses on Chessable right now (In my opinion).
Honestly, the Ponziani isn't the most critical opening for white, but honestly, this course can get you playing the opening in one evening. It's not like the opening is bad either. So in one evening, you can learn a nice opening. All for free!
The London has risen to be one of the most popular openings for white, and for a good reason. That is why, as a chess player, you MUST have an antidote against the London. This course does it perfectly, except for a couple missed lines. Those lines can be easily analysed though. So if you want a lethal antidote to the London, consider this!
The Caro Kann is one of the best responses to whites 1.e4. This course, with over 140 lines total, is quite the course. It provides a great course that can get most players started playing the Caro for free.
With over 146 lines, it provides a great repertoire to begin playing d4. After all, Andras Toth's $20 course teaching 1.d4 only has 50 more variations. Of course, like all these free courses, it doesn't go into extreme depth and cover EVERY single move your opponent could play, but honestly, it is more than enough for intermediate players.
Now although the Pirc has lost much of its touch in recent times, it is still a pretty strong opening (Especially in blitz!). The course is what makes it great though. With over 200(!) lines, the course rivals some of the more expensive courses, for 0 dollars! Overall, the reason why the course is #1 is because of how good it is for such a low price. I myself will be learning this course to find a good side blitz weapon.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Hopefully you found this interesting! Have a nice day!
