As for the orange/red...purple finches usually look red. The robin's red breast usually looks like dull rust. Who knows how these things get named.

You're right, and i always wondered why (robins) but i finally saw an oriole, now that is orange !!!

It's called the RED-WINGED blackbird.
Why ??? Who knows........it's bright colored orange......not red........lol..........stupid
