no, coal still has a use, and sticks still do, and torches do because it prevents mob spawning and helps eliminate sand.

I always use full bright though

It makes you see better in caves

it's cheating cause it helps you see ores better and mobs it's a lot scarier without it you never know what's behind you

the people that say its cheating dont have it or are not allowed to have it so they say it is.

its not allowed in speedrunning so in fact it is cheating, but no one cares if it is not that competitive and most server allow it. But even in speedrunning there is an allowed mod, which lets you see better even though it's not that effective as fullbright in for example lunar client
