Sounds like fun Joe.I may have to locate the escalator or elevator to facilitate my rise.My OTB rating has been in freefall lately.I have been involved in these style(ladder) tournaments on other sites, they were all fast time controls.I hope we can do it at the 3 days per move control.Hopefully,I will live another 20 years, spending it climbing a ladder on chess.com is fine with me.
ladder

I just heard chess.com is going to add a ladder tournament to the site. They might not get around to it for a while, but it is on their "to do" list. For those of you who are not familiar with this, it's a neverending tournament. You're not assigned pairings. You look at the list of participants & challenge whoever you want but they have to be within x number of rating points from you, up or down. Likewise you can be challenged. You set the maximum number of games you are willing to play & unless you are at capacity, you can't refuse a challenge. This way no one can take up "dead space" in this permanently active tournament. The idea of course is to climb up the ladder incrementally. I'm not exactly sure how chess.com will structure it - if you drop out, is there a waiting period before you can rejoin? - does this have a seperate rating system from the rest of the site? etc - but I am looking forward to it.
