sounds interesting
Multiverse Chess (deckbuilding with hundreds of fairy pieces)
If you have crazy ideas for fairy pieces and you need a variant to play them you're welcome to share them and il add them to the selection as "Chanpion"(fairy piece). The variant is also genuinely fun to play and something you won't regret giving a try.
If one of the 2 interests you we would really appreciate you joining the MChess discord. We're short on players/playtesters and more people to chat about champions/fairy pieces would be nice.

I can't get discord until about a month for reasons I would not like to talk about so I will join in the next month or two.

I mean you don't need discord to play the variant. If you someone and a chessboard to play IRL. And easy way to play most champions is by putting a paperhat on the pieces replaced by champions.
Or If you have a PC/Laptop you could be invited to the Miro board(where we set up the board) over this chat.
Ok, whenever you want to.
I can't rn because I forgot my laptops charging cable at home but after Wednesday I have summer break and alot of time.
Super complex.
A bit TOO complex
It's overwhelming at first and weird to get into by yourself, but 1 game you should be enough to get into. Also, the complexity depends on the champions that get chosen, so if you prefer it simple then only pick Uncommons or Commons.
Last 2 days I played MChess in school and my opponent was someone who hasn't really played chess. He asked a couple questions, then went to play two "difficulty 4 Champions" in his first 2 MChess games and almost beat me in the second one. For our 4th game on the second day, he even picked a Legendary(max difficulty 5) and beat me with it. It doesn't usually go like this, but so far it was never too complex for anyone who tried.

i wouldn't say this is a chess variant, it would probably be its own game that "branched" from chess. it's very different and unique, and considering you have all these titles and mechanics that traditional chess doesn't have, it's definitely worthy of being its own thing but too complicated and different to be considered a chess variant. just my take though

I understand where your coming from but I don't agree. A Minecraft Modpack is a Minecraft variant and MChess is just "Chess but both players can choose their mods". Also, the champions often die early on so it often turns into a normal endgame.
its chess but its a card game
There is a Yugioh champion.
Was the toughest one to balance but is extremely fun to play.

I took 1 look and I was absoloutely confused.
Here is a chess variant that focuses mainly on creating/balancing new chess mechanics for fairy pieces. If you're ever short on mechanics feel free to find them here.
