Honestly, from his actions in the special episode 276 at minute 6:27 he says some very controversial things. This along with the consummation of light shows his ill nature towards the very thing that we need to survive. I think the answer is clear that, yes, plankton does deserve the death penalty.

That is true however at the 76th minute into the spongebob christmas special "Its a spongebob christmas!" Plankton does help spongebob when he needs it most which is very goofy goober of him. Plankton may claim some controversial statements however I think the death penalty is a little too much. I would rather him serve life in prison in solitary confinement.
