New Variant Idea: Doubles Chess

Hello,

I recently had a lot of fun playing a variant I am calling Doubles Chess. The principal idea of it is that on each turn, you get to move twice. I suggested this to chess.com and they said I should also post it here and get the opinions of the community, so here it is:

Here are the rules:
1. The main rule is that each person gets two moves per turn. This means that on your turn, you get to move twice. You can make any two moves you want as long as they don't break the other rules. The moves can be any pieces, they don't have to be the same piece twice.

2. If you are put in check, your first move has to be to escape or block that check. You cannot wait until your second move to get out of check.

3. If you check your opponent on the first move of your turn, you do not get a second move.

4. You cannot move through check on your turns.

5. The game cannot end in the king being taken, it must end in checkmate, stalemate, or a draw of some other kind. The king cannot be taken.

6. In one turn, if you move a piece on your first move, you cannot move it back to the same square on your second move unless it has taken a piece or it is a pawn that promoted.

I have a lot of fun playing this, so if you think this would be a fun variant feel free to show your support!

Interesting, however, doesn't this give White a bigger advantage? I suggest White only gets to move one time on their first turn.

This is (more or less) Two Move Chess, also known as Double Move Chess or Marseillais Chess. Rules vary slightly, eg whether or not the same piece can move twice on the same turn. And nowadays White usually starts with just one move, not two. See more at https://www.chessvariants.com/rules/two-move-chess
