I would if I could, but I can't, which is why I posted this poll.

I kind of not understand what you want. A further a detail might be helpful so that I can choose what to vote. Thanks.

In general, I'm for flipping (option a). However, I've been wondering for some time if Zillions of Games might be useful for these forum games. I tried using it (and a graphics program) to make some board diagrams for Capablanca Chess:

Of course, Zillions of games has it's drawbacks. I'm not terribly familiar with the game, but it doesn't seem easy to make any diagram you want, so we might end up needing to make zrf files for any game we'd want to use this way. I'm not sure how I would make a zrf file for Upgrade Chess.

In the diagrams we use for the variant games (the ones I make, not the ones that chess.com provides) the pieces that are not on the move are upside down. I'm asking if you want to keep it that way, or if you want all of the pieces to be facing up, but with no board flipping.

Note that in the case of a tie, (a) will win because it requires less effort on my part, whereas for (b) I would need to change everything.

I might suggest keeping everything as it is except stop flipping.
I personally don't care so much how the pieces are orientated, I just find the flipping confusing
